    Vector Management

    Hi all!

Just wondering what everyone does for vector management? If you're like me, you're getting into the hundreds and all I'm doing is saving the jpg along with it to get a small preview.

    I'm wondering if there's a better solution?

you need to create different folders depending on the topic, for example:

    3d text
    angle
    bord
    heraldic
    metal gradient
    ribbon
    .....

so it will be easy find what you need, I know is a long work with hundreds of vector but in the long term it will repay you, then dont make a jpg for preview, download the plugin of irfanview that can let you open the eps and ai file and use the his thumbnails function (T) to have a good preview, very useful and time saving

Sorting into categories (folders) is a good idea.
I use adobe Bridge for visualizing and previewing but would like to know other options.

I don't have sooo many vector files, but (for the time being I just did the following):
    - created a folder just to save the .eps, .ai, .pdf
    - saved each file with a prefix (for example: icon_...)
    - when I have to search something, I just go to the "i" and use the preview (spacebar) and look for them

This tip is valid for Mac users. I don't know if there is any similar way to do it on Windows.

I used ST Thumbnail Explorer, for preview. I'm trying to organize my collection so i can do keyword search, but it's easier said than done when you have an extensive collection

patience is the key, when I begin to sort out my 500 font it was a hard work but now that I have over 1000 font I can locate the one that I need in very little time dont let the boring stop you

Should i keep the vector in the folder that it came & just add keyword or should i make a folder for that specific type of image?

is better create varius folder for a pratctical and fast search, adding some tag at the name of every file can generate conflict and confusion
