No, it should work with any xitron plugin you install. Only fancy names and fancy user interface.

And why are you bothering with this. Take Xitron Navigator found in this forum. Xitron site says following for their Agfa plugin:

Xitron's Agfa plug-in for the Navigator RIP will drive the following devices:
    AccuSet 1000
    AccuSet 1500
    AccuSet 800
    Avantra 20
    Avantra 25
    Avantra 30
    Avantra 36
    Avantra 44
    Avantra 44XT
    BlockBuster
    Phoenix 2000
    Phoenix 2250
    Phoenix News
    ProSet 9400
    ProSet 9550
    ProSet 9700
    Proset 9800
    ProSet 9836
    SelectSet 5000
    SelectSet 7000

If you find your device in this list, you are good to go.

Also in the Harlequin RIP how do you select the proper output device? It only lists two HPs and Tiff output.

Codes are used for extra functionalities like raster types and devices support. You have to install device plugins to allow work with other devices.

No, that's not enough: you also need the Xitron interface card or USB interface to physically plug your Agfa imagesetter on the computer hosting your RIP!

The easiest workaround to avoid buying such interfaces is to use a PrintDrive to make the "interface" between HQ RIP and Agfa device : the PrintDrive is able to catch the 1-bit TIFF outputted from the HQ RIP and can use the original Agfa Apis card and Agfa USB boxes to send the raster datas to Agfa devices handled by the PrintDrive, including the Avantra.
