This is a great thread and it has some great information.
I'm running PhotoPrint for dye sub and press and I'm looking to upgrade.

I'm finding a lot of information correct, the only thing that'd I'd include is what purpose is ur RIP software is applied to.

What die sub and profile making RIPs are folks using?

    ONYX Production House Proofing

[QUOTE=awaddon;35444]Hi all, first post here and I agree

Onyx Production House also has built-in profiling software which is easy to use, comes with instructional video and you only need to get hold of an Eye-one to do it. The colour reproduction is not as accurate as EFI but then it was built for production not colour critical proofing, we run hundreds of posters through it every week. We use hot folders which are set up with different settings for different medias, qualities etc., so you can drop 50 files on a folder and they will appear in the queue already setup for Photo satin paper, then 30 more files dropped on to another folder and they will come in set up for Light stop banner material etc.

Hi guys, thank you for the quoted reply. Can I please ask for your thoughts regarding what's the best reason for using the proofing option in OPH?

Is OPH proofing just for matching colours between inkjets, basically dumbing one machine down to match the colour gamut of another?

Surely this is better to do with correct profiles in Photoshop and cross rendering instead, must be more accurate this way too.

P.S. I do have a spectro for point sampling, so please share your methods for measuring cross rendered inkjets too.

    Many thanks again,
    Christian

Hi cryptkeeper, when you say the onboard 5500 RIP are you sending down Postscript files or do you have an actual interface for the RIP?

    Kind regards,
    Christian

    onyx

For my 5000 i use Onyx x10 or 7.06 (in XP) and works great, Colorgate color for it is very bad and HP e print not too bad. I can get my vote between Onyx and Caldera.
