There are 5 controller for the Xerox DocuColor 242/252/260 242-252-260 (Olimpia)

    1.- Built-in Fiery controller
    2.- Creo Spire CX260
    3.- EFI Fiery EX260
    4.- Splash RPX-ii
    5.- Xerox FreeFlow DXP260

Rip create is definitely the best performance for advanced graphics. Anchje its cost, than other means at the top for the solution in question.
Good choice, I would not change.

We have a Xerox DC250 printer, with Creo Spire RIP. Sometimes it makes mistakes, especially in exported pdf, with transparency issues, but most of the time it works fine.
I've heard Freeflow Docusp has a better quality, especially in smooth shades, but it's more expensive, and have to buy again the license in every year to make it run.
I think it's for UNIX system only, but I'm not sure about it.

In fact you could put FreeFlow DocuSP, but is cheaper and better Splash RPX-ii.

You have to update the firmware in some xerox are small updates that are made by sending a PS file to the queue directly. That both problems are reported to Windows 7 32/64 bits and SnowLeopard. You have to download the latest drivers from the Xerox website: http://www.support.xerox.com/support/docucolor-242-252-260/downloads/eses.html?associatedProduct=dc242-252-260-built-in-controller&operatingSystem=win7x64&fileLanguage=en _GB

For Olympias I 240-250-260 and II 242-252-260 cannot change the RIP that control the press.
On Xerox Color 550-560 (CHandon) you can change the RIP that originally use when you need more options or your workflow has changed.

ye s you can print directly, only with the drivers, but remember that your job allways be riped on the controler you have. (creo, splash efy and freeflow)

We have a DC250 with the built in Fiery, which works very good, but still i wouldn't put it up against the DC50 with XP-12 Fiery separate controller. That has much better image quality. DC 250 is faster though...much faster.

We have two xerox, one dc 250 with built in fiery, and the other is dc 242 with creo rip...
The printers are practicly the same, uses the same material too, but the one with creo rip prints better, faster and with less errors... :)
