Brisque ver. 4 needed to expose 1-Bit Tif

    Note:
Brisque 3 spends too much time on rotating data.
Older Scitex rips "read" Landscape (horizontal) but Expose Portrait (vertical), based on the original orientation of the Scitex Drums.
Later, for the Lotem CTP with its' horizontal drum, they allowed (since Brisque 4) an "input orientation selection".

    Harlequin RIP

We have Dolev4Press some 8 years... in start was have Brisque v.3 connected with optical cables with imagesetter... after few years Brisque was too slow and to old for big files... After that we have buy Harlequin and work with Harlequin for 5 years... Harlequin is stable and good... Works good with Scitex4press... we have buyed from RTI RIPS...

Hardware is very limited to Scitex/IBM RISC machines up to 600 MHz, if I remember correctly. It is very expensive and pretty slow.
PDF and transparencies can be a big problem for this RIP.
    Does anybody have Brisque K'ed?
i have a brisque 4 system, very good for process PS file but work bad with PDF.

how can i use brisque for 1-bit tiff from harlequin or other worklow?

1Bit tiff output on Scitex equipment

Brisque 4 had the capacity to import (generic)1-bit tiffs built in.

I can check the specifics (via Hotfolder or direct Expose) if asked.

Brisque, at least my version 4.1, includes the JoBit operation that converts 1-bit TIFF files to a Brisque Job format.

However, since many rip manufacturers wish to charge for an Output Option for saving 1-bit Ripp'ed files, they make them proprietary by locking them by using special compression and encoding.

To make sure your files "have no strings attached" - try to convert one separation into PDF using acrobat, if that works, you know these files are really GENERIC.

    1. The original Rip`s of Scitex where PS/M `s All versions 6.1,7.1,8.0 witch are making ct & LW files.. and brisque Rip producing Also ct & LW files for output.
    2. Scitex Image setters can receive Data as well from other Rips that produce Tiff one Bit
As long you have the communication interface, Harlequin ,Eagle etc.

    1) connection:
    1a) Scitex Fiber Optics: works with Dolev 200, 400, 250, 450, 4press, 4press V, 800, 800 V; probably doesn't work with 4press V2 or V3, 800 V2 or V3
requires either a Mac (PowerPC, only up to G4) or a Brisque (IBM RS/6000 platform) for the RIP, and a fiber cable and board in the imagesetter
1b) Scitex TSP (TurboScreen): works will all except Dolev 200 and 400; requires either a Mac (PowerPC including G5, when the TSP board is new revision; otherwise up to G4) or a Brisque for the RIP, and a thick serial cable to the imagesetter
1c) 3rd party: various manufacturers (Xitron, Compose, Highwater) make interfase boards (PCI) or boxes (USB) that can be connected to Scitex imagesetters, to the same direct serial port where the TSP board would be connected.

    2) RIP software:
2a) when using SFL on a Mac, it would be PS/M v7 on OS9 ; no OSX supported. On a Brisque, it's own software.
2b) when using TSP on a Mac, it would be PS/M v8 on OSX ; PS/M v7 on OS9 also supported. On a Brisque, it's own software.
2c) when using a 3rd party interfase, it's usually Harlequin on a PC or a Mac, or a tiff shooter (Rasterblaster, etc.)

    3) the tricks:
    - you can use your old PS/M or Brisque RIP as a "Tiff shooter", eliminating the need for a new interfase. For that, the TIFFs have to be recognized as Creo/Scitex TIFFs, and that means they have to be produced by Prinergy, or by PolkaDot's TIFF plugin for Harlequin, or by StudioRIP
    - StudioRIP can now drive any Harlequin-based board and plugin; so you can use a Compose, Xitron, or Highwater interfase board or box, and StudioRIP
    - PS/M does not need a dongle to be used as a shooter; it only needs the dongle (or crack) to RIP
    - so for example some people have an old PS/M v7 with SFL (Fiber) interfase, or an old Brisque, what they do is keep it as a shooter, and in a separate machine do the RIPping; either a Mac G5 with PS/M v8 (software only, no board), or a PC with StudioRIP or a Harlequin with the Polkadots TIFF plugin.

    that's it!!
    Where to download Xpo 3?

    Trensetter quantum

Hi, my customer have a trensetter quantum 800 with Harlequin Rip and
    Brisque workflow.

The connection form IBM birsque software to Trensetter was a PCI card like the SCSI card. Now the Brisque having problem, can we just bypass the Brisque
and direct send Tiff file from Harlequin Rip to Trensetter?

Or other option....We know that the Xitron have an solution is that replaced the
Brisque with the Raster Balster Tiff shooter with their communication PCI card.
Is there other option that use back the old PCI card and change the tiff shooter?
    Thank you.
