    Rip for HP Indigo 3500

    Hi everyone.

    I'm new in this forum.

I need to rip out from the press.

I manage huge amount of files so now i have to leave the press turned on all night long making the ripping task.

    Indigo RIP output ".jlt" files.

I've downloaded Navigator 10 and made it work (unlocked media saving and other features).

¿Does anyone knows how to configure Navigator RIP so it outputs ".jlt" files?

    Thanks

    Y.

Natively it does'nt output .jlt files. You need the jlyt_out.dll file in your rip. Allso it does not work with 64 bit version rips as it's made for 32 bit only, so i hope you installed the 32 bit version of Navigator.

I guess you have access to the Original HP rip so you can get the files from that rip. At least you need these files:
    jlyt_out.dll
    DVMA_C.dll
    DVMA.dll
    ICFc.dll

I'm currently trying the same thing on Navigator 10 (32bit) rip and you need to run the migration tool in order to copy the files from the original HP rip to your Navigator rip.

When i succeed to ouput .jlt files i will post what you need to do manually.

First of all, thanks for your reply.

I have access to the original rip!

I will be very grateful if you post that information.

    Okay, here we go.

I'm working on a 5500 press so i'm not sure if it uses the same version rip but it should work with the rip folder from your 3500 allso.

You allready have the Navigator rip installed so we go from there.

Go to the Xitron\Navigator 10.0r0\Utilities\migrate\SW_Migrate folder and start the Migrate tool as Administrator (this worked on my Windows7 config).

Select the folder of the HP RIP as source folder and the Navigator 10.0r0 folder as the target folder.

Click the Migrate button and you should see something like this in the window:
    Harlequin RIP Migration Utility
    Version 7.0r0

Migrating from Harlequin RIP version "Genesis Release (7.1r6) HPRIP HP RIP"
to version "40.0 Revision 0 32-bit Edition Navigator"

Starting migration at: Wed Jan 29 21:45:40 CET 2014
RIP version "Genesis Release (7.1r6) HPRIP HP RIP" migrates as "7.1 Revision 0".

After this it will ask if you want to merge the SW folders, just click 'yes' and quit the tool.

Now you need to manually copy the HP dll files to your Xitron\Navigator 10.0r0 folder.
The files you need to make the RIP start are:
    DVMA_C.dll
    DVMA.dll
    ICFc.dll
    jlyt_out.dll

Next you need to copy the files from the HP RIP folder SW/NamedColor to Navigator's SW/NamedColor folder (copy all files and select 'dont overwrite').
If you dont do that you will get the following error when you try to rip a job:
    Setup loaded: "CMYK"
Starting Job On woensdag 29 januari 2014 21:51:55
Using Color Setup "HP Indigo CMYK Default"
Using device calibration from profile `HP3000Gloss_exp05'
Error: Device PostScript contained an error
%%[ Error: undefinedresource; OffendingCommand: setinterceptcolorspace; Key: HPCustomCMYK; Value: --nostringval--; File: %fs%Setup ]%%
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end of file) will be ignored ]%%
Now when you start the RIP you at least need to activate the ColorPro option in the rip configuration. If you dont you get the following error:
%%[ Error: configurationerror; OffendingCommand: setreproduction; Info: ColorPro password incorrect ]%%
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end of file) will be ignored ]%%
Now you need to set the output directory in the Page Setup Manager otherwise it will complain about not being able to write the .jlt file.

I think you can manage from this point on. If not just ask and i will have a look if i can solve the issue.

Allso i need to say i have not yet tested any of the .jlt files that i have created with the Navigator rip on the Indigo Press so i dont know if you can actually print the jobs or not

Thanks a lot!!! I will be trying this as soon as i could.

Last question ¿Does this process modify the original RIP of Indigo Press or this leave it intact?

I did not install the rip on the press itself as there's a lot of scripting in there to make the rip work with the press manager. If it's possible you should install it on a separate computer.
There's a big chance the installation of another rip on the press will conflict with the original rip.

I've not been probably clear. The idea is actually to install the new rip in a different computer.

But my question was pointing at if the migration process affect somehow the original RIP (that is actually working and makes the ripping task) or it leaves it untouched so, in the case that something went wrong in the migration process, i could continue using the old rip insted of the fresh one.

    Thanksssss

Yes, i got the question wrong lol.

I'm not sure but i just made a copy of the press rip folder (hp2rip) and put it on a usb stick and used that for the migration process. Before you make the copy of the rip folder on the maschine you should shutdown the press software so it's not using the files.

Today i printed a file that i ripped on my Navigator rip and it printed without a problem btw.

That was really nice, i didn't tought that i could copy the rip folder entirely.

I'm really excited about this, i will do it in a while so i will be reporting news.

Thanks a lot for your help!
