Question about imposition software and document bleed

    hi

does any imposition software use document bleeds or do they always use a standard value?

im working on preps 6.2 atm and u can only change the program default value of the bleed, it doesnt check document bleed value. is there a workaround?

    tnx 4 hlp

Why would you do that in imposition software? Bleeds and other checks shall be d before imposition. That's the right way to do it. Usually, prepress dictates standard bleed size. For example, for magazine is 3mm. There is no logical reason why an imposition software needs to check document bleed value.

    bleeds

well the thing is, if im working on a magazine the document all ready has 3mm of bleed, but if im working on a cover for a hard back book the bleed needs 2 be 10-15 mm, and i can do the imposition in preps w/o going 2 preferences.

a swell thing would be 2 make preps always use document set boxes, since those will always be preset as they have 2 be.

Use template. Or maybe talk to some programmer, maybe they can write some scripts.

    Hello

what i understood is that u need more bleed in cover and if u have more bleed in the design that u just need to define the boxes in pdf or in the design software. define the trim box and then u can have as many bleed as u need it. No impose software will check the docu bleed.

That would be for the perfect bind spine. You need to count how many pages you are going to use in the book and then measure with a ruler how thick the paper you are using is. Finally add 5mm to each side for glue and creasing.
