    Post epson stylus pro 9800

    Hello,
I hope it's the right forum for it, so here is my question:
I do have a Epson stylus pro 9800 , pigmented Ultra Chrome , and I love the machine...
However, there is an inbalance in the amount ink used between the light ink and the normal ink.
I'm looking for a good rip( colorburst, posterjet?) to balance this out, and to make some colorprofiles , because standard, there is not much choiche coming with epson driver.
So, it could be a rather easy handing rip..
    I' using winxp pro 64.
Would appriciate remarks on the theme..
    Thanks...

You should use the EFI Colorproof XF or GMG Colorproof.
I have a lot of costumers that use these RIP-Softwares.
If you want to calibrate your printer, GMG is a little bit easier to handle, because its just "next", "next", "next".... and measuring your charts.
There are also a few profiles inside these Rips, that you can use. Otherwise the Epson Stylus Pro 9800 has the chance to get set to factory linearisation with "colormetric".

    Ergosoft

I have a 9600 and use the epson print driver, until now, because of the size of the prints. I am considering a Ergosoft RIP because of the good things I have heard.

We use GMG Colorproof with success on the 9600, 9800 and 9900 models. Really good results.

That can be an option to you.

we have EFI XF, after you have calibrated a right linearization of your proofing paper, the ink usage balance will be better,, but of course wont be even

This is controlled by the ripping applications, and most of them will utilise light inks more than normal inks.

Btw, may I know why you want to balance the ink used between light and normal inks?
