    Dynastrip VS InDesign for imposition.

I did a few searches... hopefully this question has not been raised yet..

At the shop I work for we have a G5 and are using DynaStrip 6. We have InDesign as well, but I've never seen InDesign used for this.. "Can InDesign be used for imposition?" Was what I was asking myself.. Google says yes. I always thought it was just for laying out pages that did not go to a plate. I don't know.. What can Dyna do that ID CS4 cannot, and vice versa?

Indesign does not support imposition native. You have to buy a plugin. I would only use the plugin for very simple impositions. Dedicated imposition software has much more features.

    Yes, but no...
Since some versions, InDesign has embedded a little imposition extension called "InBooklet", originally made by ALAP, and able to make simple 2-up imposition.

This feature is mainly made to output 4-pages imposed proofs on laser/ink-jet printers, just to manually built an (almost) real booklet to show to the customer... but do not hope to use it to impose on a CTP! (unless you have A4 pages to be imposed on a 2-pages CTP for a GTO press!!!).
