    Designjet 500 RIP

    Hi all,

New to all this, but have just got a used hp designjet 500 but it has no RIP software. I hope to use it to print on canvas. Can anyone suggest what would be the best RIP to use?

    Thanks!

Onyx X10 works really well with the Designjet 500 and 800, its ink use calculation is very accurate and its fast. Printed output is great as is the Icc calibration and linearization system though you'll need a spectrophotometer like an i1pro. If you don't have one then it's built in profiles look remarkably good on my 800 using straight defaults. Your 500 will look just as good I'm sure.

I chose it over Efi which itself is very good but really X10 does all I need really well.

The 500 and 800 are economical and very reliable printers. Sure they're old as hell and may not print as fast or as fine and with only 4 colours. But they're cheap as chips to run and the output is absolutely great if calibrated. Ebay is over run with super cheap HP ink carts and spare parts for pennies.

I produce great posters that no one complains about, even photographers. An A0+ print costs me no more than £1-£1.5 all up. It's also a perfect canvas printer.

    Thanks for this Sumilux!

I'm completely novice when it comes to this. I'm guessing you've got a lot more experience than I have! Perhaps we could discuss further? Would you mind at all if I PM'd you?

Also, don't suppose you have DL link for Onyx X10/Crack?

Thanks again for all your help so far

It seems to me that ColorGATE 7 works in 64 bit win7.

Become a donor and you can access everything.
    Take care
