One of the biggest strengths of Pitstop is Font manipulation. Using the inspector you can change for embedded subset to embed complete font ( you need to have the font installed) then you can edit anything you like.

I use the save to PDF feature direct from PowerPoint 2010. Seems to work 90% of the time for once off print runs. Sometimes I have to apply fix-ups, especially the flatten transparency option.

try callas pdfToolbox. They have special profiles for converting office pdfs without much hassle. Not perfect but usually gets the job done pretty good.

    I'd do this:
    Windows PC
    Office 2007 + Acrobat Pro
first - check fonts (add or replace in the system)
    second - setting job options
It doesn't fixes everything, but most of it
