It is true that all applications are part of the process but the issue is graphics workflow from pdf generated. in any case if you mention any design application at least explain what advantages or inconveniences of using a particular combination of software.
    Greetings.
The thing is that for many peeps out there its the only workflow. I mean that many print houses still make their impos' "with bare hands" - i mean assembling print layouts directly in DTP software(Indesign, Illustrator, Corel) without funky plugins and stuff. And when it goes down to spot's, warnishes, embossings, foils and die cuts its better to take direcct .AI, CDR or IDD file from designer, because plenty of designers have no f% clue how to even make overprint stuff in their designs.
Thats where those DTP programs comes into the workflow game. you ask from designer their work files, you edit them, make right separations and then you can make some fancy PDF.
Its even classic of the genree, that some small printshops says that your PDF is kind of bad.. because their CorelDraw canot open it.

I totally agree with you, but on this issue we discuss the tools to correct the wrong pdf file generated without using the original DTP application.

How about you are the pdf from quark? I wonder what the main problems you usually have to make pdf with quark. We all know that adobe suite is safer.
    Thank you.

And what about the ctp? I would like to say something about the operation of ApogeeX. Does it work? I have understood that it is a very powerful software.
    thanks

If you ask me, Apogee-X is a very powerful and non-trouble RIP, that gets the job done. Before we used all HQ-RIPs there are, from version 5.x, 6.4, 7.2, 8.3... the older PDF RIP with PrintDrive, then FlexRIP and some others. None as good as Apogee-X, currently using v7.0, before we used 5.0 again without any trouble (the cracked one is available on the forum). And there are a lot of goodies in the X, like Pilots, so that you can input the files directly from your workstation (saved me many backpain :)).

Preps 5.3.3 (unfortunally I think that Apogee Imposision is too young... not so good for VLF webprint like Lithoman)
