    Hi there,
I use Nec Spectraview Reference 271 screens. For pre-press and retouching jobs, I think it's of utmost importance to use tools you may rely on. I could test Eizo ColorEdge and Quato Intelliproof screens too, that are equally good, but the quality of the matrix being different (too sharp on Eizos and too blurry, CRT-like on Quatos) I preferred and got used to Nec screens.
They are really worth it! And Spectraview Profiler (rebranded Basiccolor Profiler) is just precise, accurate and powerful (using DTP94 and Discus sensors).

Maybe I can still buy some good, big monitors for prepress in ratio 4:3?

    My screen

I had used Apple Cinema Display, LaCie and Dell Ultrasharp. LaCie and Apple are nice screen but Dell is a good value for the price you pay.

I got the HP ZR30w and I am disappointed about the color. If he will not do bettter re-calibration will be back to EIZO CG211.

I'm using a pair of 19" NEC CRTs on a G5 Pro. There is supposed to be a 27" iMac i7 on the horizon but I'll beleive it when I see it.

    Eizo FlexScan T966 (CRT), Nec 2190Uxi (S-IPS), NEC MultiSync PA271W (P-IPS).
    Eye -pro.

2190Uxi is more comfotable fo my eyes, than other. Colors are the same accurate as on the PA271W.

NEC MultiSync PA271W and pa301w-bk, with spectraview.

Tip: be sure to use spectraview to calibrate your NEC monitors, because the filters inside are custom made for the NEC screens- while calibrators such as EYE- will work, this is more direct and custom made.
