Save ppf file in a Heidelberg's card (PCMCIA)???

    Hi all ;)

Does anyone know how I can save a PPF (CIP3) file to a Heidelberg's card (PCMCIA) for the Heidelberg press/console in order to set ink keys.

I can´t read the Heidelberg's card in my PC because I need the "Drivers", so is there any solution to save the PPF file from a PC to the memory card?

    Thanks in advance!!!!

    Heidelberg Card Programming.

    Hey Dude,
I just did this Heidelberg programming job, and I know for a fact that you will never see or write to that card unless you have One of these CSM OmniDrives...
    http://www.jactron.co.uk/products/read-write-units/external/usb

I have 3 PCMCIA drives. USB1, USB2, SCSI, EVEN! NO SEE NO PROGRAM! The only way I found so far to program Heidelberg cards is from this card reader and writer drive at this site. I Guarantee it. The Heidelberg card is a protected PCMCIA, some sort of weird format. I tried forever on my Mac as well as my Dell PC laptop..and... NOTHING! Plug one of these PCMCIA Drives in and everything shows up! And is programmable! Believe me I tested and tested it like 10+ times! Worked everytime! The color curves don't match exactly though! but once you figure out what goes to where, because the names are off, then it all comes together. K? Good Luck homies! =o)

    Sorry for the typos'

I forgot to mention this company had one 8 color Heidelberg press, One 6 color Heidelberg press and a couple of Komoris' and other smaller presses of course. But Me and my friend who hired me, is a color specialist certified by pretty much every print industry out there that deals with color matching and correction. Like Anpa, Pantone, HKS, Trumatch, and Toyo, But I want to keep him anonymous. K? =.) Maybe later on I'll introduce you.

    Hi mate,

I´ve got a 4 color Heidelberd press (with a reader card) and a Heidelberg's Topsetter CTP but I can´t copy the ppf's files from the CTP to the press by network because the presetLink in the Heidelberg press/console is "off" (I must buy the license key)

I've seen the website and displayed 8 drives, what is the best or what do you use to read/write a Heidelberg's Jobcard on a PC?.

Hopefully I can get it with one of these readers!!!!

Thanks for the info and your time, I was desperate with the damn card!!!

    Hi there...

HDM uses binary code in the job memory card. The only way to write the job memory card is using HDM Prepress Interface. All CIP3 data must converted by the software so the press can use them. If the press have Preset Link option on then you can use converted CDK or PPF files, or you write the ink zones setting to job memory card.

There is a third party solution for this (InkZone box), but I have no information about the result.

    cheers..

    Hey rooftop,

I´ve seen Inkzone box solution and it´s cheaper than Heidelberg's solution (about 7000$) but I´m searching more information.

I´ve found another solution but I´m not sure if this works. Could anybody help me?. There is a software called prepresspercent (http://www.excourse.com/presspercent/index.html) instead HDM Prepress Interfece to convert ppf file to CIP3/CIP4 and save this file with this Omnidrive USB (http://www.psism.com/usbsramlf.htm), but I would like to know if this Omnidrives works with heifdelberg´s Job Cards.

    Thanks in advance ;)

    Hi Chapadiscos,

I have seen the same USB OmniDrives from Heidelberg that came with the Prepress Interface Software.

In my opinion, you can use PressPercent for your presses that have CP2000 PresetLink enabled.

The data format of HDM Job Memory card is special format, only Prepress Interface software that can write to the Job Memory Card the correct binary data to be read by the CPC104 of the Press Console. Press Percent will not able to do that.

Press Percent create PPF out for the HDM Press but as mention above you need the Preset Link Option enabled for CP2000 Console and Instant Gate for Press Center console. But again it quite complicated since every version of the console need special attention for this connectivity. The HDM Engineer must have information about history of version to version.

I understand that PressPerCent can export to Heidelberg JobCard format which can then be saved onto the OmniDrives PCMCIA cards as TheMacMeKanik has suggested.

Correct me if I'm wrong, because I am also looking for the solution.

Sorry cits, but I can't correct by now because I´m going to check Heidelber's Solution first, in a few days I´ll receive de Omnidrive USB LF reader and tell you my "experience". After this I´ll check the PresPerCent Solution, OK?

You can try Printflow DIPS solution. They offer job card emulators which allow online communication with Heidelberg consoles with job card drives. They are able to send ink preset information from prepress directly to consoles as well as to save final ink keys settings with previews in a PC. Once you have this solution you do not need job cards any more.

Printflow offers online communication hardware (job card or tape emulators) to transfer PPF or 1bit TIFF data directly to consoles with job card drives or even tape drives. You can find their booth at this year Graphexpo show in Chicago.

I'm back again and after several days checking a solution I have found only one (thanks to Silver_fox):

You must use Prepress Interface software from Heidelberg and the Omnidrive USB to read/write in a Heidelberg's Job Card (rooftop is right in his message). PressPerCent doesn´t work because this software runs on Mac and Omnidrive USB's drivers is only for PC, you can't save the PressPerCent's file because you can´t access to the data/files in the explorer, you can only access to the job card through Prepress Interface, with this software you can read/write/save/delete/edit..... the Heidelberg's Job Card.

I hope to help you ;)

Did you try to save PressPerCent's ink key files to Omnidrive's LF Reader/Writer via some Windows environment such as "Parallels Desktop", etc.?

My main objective is to achieve the task with as least investment as possible, and Prepress Interface from Heidelberg will definitely cost you a bomb!
