you may install the trial version and decide yourself.

if you are making 10 jobs / year it may be expensive.
if you are making 100 jobs / day you cant go without it.

Working with receiving PDF's from all sorts of designers, I couldn't live without pitstop to easily correct all their mistakes. So yes I would say it's worth it.

    Cool

I'd second what gninneh just said... If you have to make corrections in PDF files on a somewhat regular basis, you won't find anything reliable which might be cheaper. If it is just about checking PDF files Acrobat's preflight might be sufficient for you.

BTW the only alternative for PDF editing I know of is Neo from Esko, which is Enfocus's mother company that is a lot more expensve but may be the better tool in certain (maybe very special) circumstances.

Pitstop is MUST HAVE tool if you regulary come across PDF files for various purposes not just for prepress/rip.
Once you start to using it, you will ask yourself: "why I didnt get it sooner?"

    So short answer: YES!

Be shure that if you buy PitStop you will get an excellent tool. If your printshop gets a lot of pdf`s from third party designers the investment will soon pay of.

We use it constantly and it is a real life-saver.

    You'll be lost

Once you get used to it you'll be lost the day you don't have it.
