    Numbering in Indesign or Pdf

    Hello all!

Please tell me if there is a way to make tickets with numbering in indesign or in pdf.
Im switching from Corel (who has a numbering feature) to Indesign and i must print monthly about 15.000 tickets with different numbers and letters in front of numbers.

Can i link a excel or text file to indesign or pdf and output directly on printer?

    Thank you,
    Dan

yepp, you can link an excel file (.csv) to your indesign document.

but you cannot print directly. you have to generate a pdf or a new indesign document with all data records first. so you will get one individual page for every database record which you can print afterwards.

what you are looking for is called "VDP" = Variable Data Printing.

pitstop cant do the job. but there are some other VDP plugins for acrobat.

    Vdp

A vdp program is much more suited for this type of work than using Indesign's Data Merge, especially if you are doing thousands of tickets.

Could you tell us which program you bought and how its working for you?

We use XMPie uCreate through indesign - has many useful tools for numbering and variable data.

Yes works well with quite imposing. Quite can also stack numbers in one batch,
after cutting you have staples numbered.

Try this, prepare numbers in excel, then export to csv or unicode text.
Launch Indesign with VI Design Express plug in then export to pdf file.
    Works great.
