    InDesign CS5.5 First Impressions

    Two problems (among many):

    1. There's no "export for: epub" in the file menu. I can export the whole book from the book panel flyout menu, but I can't export individual chapters for testing. Am I missing a plug-in or something?

    2. I am converting to Kindle using KindleGen. I am getting a text Table of Contents, and a sidebar table of contents in Digital Editions. But not in the Kindle. And when KindleGen runs it says "No page map found in book."

    3. The CSS file (template.css) in the epub creates new style definitions for every chapter. I have dozens of "subhead" styles, etc. To change a single parameter means changing the same definition over and over again.

Anybody have any thoughts or suggestions for any of this?

In general, I have found the app surprisingly buggy. It opens files that don't exist, won't quit, insists on saving files that aren't even open. But I am working through all that. Any thoughts about the above issues would be very much appreciated.

Ever since Adobe CS4, Adobe's software has become a bloated, buggy mess! Try Quark 9 for creating ePubs. If Adobe doesn't get their act together soon, there could be a steady migration back to Quark. It's crazy, right?

I've seen crazier things. Good thing I made the keyboard commands in ID the same as quark so I don't have to relearn short-cuts when Quark comes around again. I miss Quark 3.3
I shoulda gone to college instead of the family print shop...

InDesign 5.5 do have epub export option (mac and pc): why can't you find it?
Furthermore, it doesn't give me none of the problems you list. Maybe depends on other factors.

Ive used it and liked it more than CS4, but really I need to get work to update from CS3 which is a long shop at the moment. I agree it is becoming bloated but as whole you cant beat the integration between programs. Quark? Im not going back.

    I don't know if it's just a singular - my - problem.
I use InDesign on some machines, some Mac and some PC. On Mac it's all right, on Windows I see a slowly reply of InDesign.

You have also the same problem? Have you noticed this?
