How to Fix file name when export PDF from Indesign cs5

    I use a MacPro, OS 10.6
I usually export PDF from InDesign file, my computer always remember the old PDF file name before, I want it to update the new name, if I rename the file indesign.how to fix it.
    For example:
    * Old file name is: 1.indd layout -> PDF export with the name: layout 1.pdf

    * I changed it with the name: 18_layout_2.indd--> PDF export with the name: "it always remember the old auto: layout 1.pdf". I want it to update the new name is: 18_layout_2.pdf without retyping
    Thanks

I too have had this problem, which is very annoying as you can so easily overwrite an existing file saved previously!

I bet there is a simple answer to this

as long as you dont type a file name for pdf export manually indesign is always using the file name from the layout document, even if you rename your document from the finder.

as soon as you give an individual file name for pdf export this is stored and used for later export too.

in the pdf file export dialog you can click onto the original indesign document file to use the original file name again without retyping. this resets the auto pdf file naming to its default behaviour. you only have to change the file extension from .indd to .pdf before saving the first time!

It is enough to register in the first the layout in the format PDF. then there it will remember and will update the .PDF recording and not .INDD

Save to a specific folder, let it name it what it wants to and then use a batch renamer like the excelent A Better Finder Rename.
