    No PS?

    People without PS can print screen open PDF and than paste it to Painting or other free bitmap editing software of coarse some of the quality will be loose, it depends on desired dimensions.

    Photoshop is the way to go my friend. You have better control and can be more flexible with your choices of file formats and file sizes. Using a separate software just doesn't make sense... why are you trying to do this anyway? Whatever software you use, there will be a loss in quality...

    i like automator (the macintosh program) because it's a bit easier than photoshop for batch converting in my opinion. you can set up a workflow quite easily, you just need to tinker a bit with the settings

    I prefer to do this with Acrobat Pro:
    File->SaveAs->Image->JPEG

    InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator all can export to a .jpg and each program allows you different resolution options. If you already have any of these three programs, there is really no need for an additional program that does the exact same thing.

    The built in tools will suffice for most purposes

    I would rather just use Acrobat Pro (which has that built in plus so much more) than a specialized piece of software for the one thing.

    open in photoshop, save as? Most pdf readers allow something similar. You can use a vector illustration software like illustrator to edit things out/in first as well
