    depends as usual

    Do you really need the plane ? if so XMF 3.xxx is really very good ! Cockpit alone should be enough though and then Pitsop is just excellent. To each his own anyway. :)

    Hello....

    Preflight function can be in the preprint area, and for this you can use dekstop tools like Acrobat, Enfocus, Prinect PDF Toolbox.

    While if you want to do preflight in the workflow process then you need a workflow with preflight function and most of the workflow have it.

    Just to remember that with dekstop tools you have full control of your preflight while inside the workflow you don't because it all automation.

    It is all up to you and depend on what you already have.....

    I really like the EskoArtwork workflow.

    Currently using:
    Illustrator ->
    Automation Engine 10 ->
    ArtPro 10 ->
    Color Engine 10 ->
    FlexProof ->
    FlexRIP ->
    Bitmap Viewer-X

    If its only to perform preflight only, I think PitStop Server is cheap and good!

    everything

    Everything is good - but depends on operator skills.
    Someone more like Prinect - some Prinergy - some Esko - some Fuji.
    But in the end - the best software is that who works for you.

    Workflow´s

    I have worked with Printready Heidelberg, Fujifilm Celebrant and XMF, Kodak Prinergy. I think the most intuitive, powerful and reliable is the Printready Heidelberg, never fails. Whilst I appreciate the versatility and level of automation of the Kodak Prinergy.

    I think best workflow is next.

    Hello

    Enfocus PitStop is the best PDF preflighting tool regarding PDF elements, and compliancy to Profil/Norms.
    However, its weakness is about the color management.

    Enfocus Pitstop is included in one of the two following workflows: Prinergy or Apogee as OEM edition.

    Hope that helps.

    The Esko workflow running on old dual-Xeon 2.2GHz server, was faster than the Prinergy running on much newer hardware. But most important, with Esko they were used to never having freezes or glitches, maybe needed to reboot once every 3 months or so. The Prinergy, stability was not in the menu. They ended up rebooting every day just as a precaution.
    We're talking a customer that processes about 900 pages a day.
    Of course they sent the Prinergy back, and upgraded their Esko to the latest version in new servers, happily ever after.
    I really don't understand how this is possible. My Creo/Kodak experience is about 15 years old and in all combinations I have seen or tried it works flawless. It was never question processing volume.

    So my recommendation goes to Prinergy + Preps combination.
