Prinect: Prepress Manager -> Signa Station - > MetaDimension.
If dispose correctly, then it works excellently.

    Xmf

Fuji XMF is just good idea, but it has a lot of bugs and flows. Too complicated, but too little good functions...

    heidelberg?

i have tried the heidelberg workflow without prepress manager.... wasn't impressed at all... but maybe i should add prepress manager into the mix.

    Hi Friends,

I have worked with all mentioned workflows. Because I have 10 years of my experience with the different prepress and press suppliers and sales distributors as a workflow support engineer.

My vote goes for Esko. Some of the advantages are:

    - stand-alone PDF editor (Packedge) which can do anything with your PDF file and save it as PDF.
Others use an Acrobat plugin like pitstop, PDF Toolbox, etc. (Enfocus belongs to Esko!!)

    - Very fast RIP (FlexRIP) with 1-bit tiff BitmapViewer

    - Very intelligent smart marks and smart layout handling

    - Adobe Illustrator format (.ai) direct input

    - With Artworks Systems now full prepress solution for different platforms (PC/Mac - CP/Packaging)

    - No other mentioned Brands has the power of Esko in packaging (ArtiosCad for structural design, Full DTP plugin: Deskpack, 3D viewing of the final product: visualizer, etc.)

Maybe I numbered some and forgotten others. Anyway I am a freelancer and not working for Esko and no benefit from it if you choose it!!

    Cheers.

    XMF 3.x

Nice 3d viewer, easy integrated imposition, X-media, free clients, APPE 2.5.
    The best.

    Esko is the best

Esko is the best, not only because of features, but mostly because of performance and stability. I have a customer that had an Esko Backstage (2002) worfklow, and in 2009 the Kodak guys were desperate to sell him Prinergy. They put a new server side to side with the old Esko one.
The Esko workflow running on old dual-Xeon 2.2GHz server, was faster than the Prinergy running on much newer hardware. But most important, with Esko they were used to never having freezes or glitches, maybe needed to reboot once every 3 months or so. The Prinergy, stability was not in the menu. They ended up rebooting every day just as a precaution.
We're talking a customer that processes about 900 pages a day.
Of course they sent the Prinergy back, and upgraded their Esko to the latest version in new servers, happily ever after.

    For pdf preflight ;
Esko can use pitstop plugin or pitstop server like others, and it has several chechings in backstage / packedge as well.
