We use ccitt group 4. It Also depends on what compression works for your machine software. IF de tiff doesn't work try with another compression.
We are using CCITT Group 4 on Ecrm software and works perfectly

we just rar 1-bit TIFF with medium compression
    and have a good result
    no RIP load when decompress
of course when we make plates outside (on another RIP)

    compression options

it all depends on your workflow. normally you make those 1bit tiffs for a tiff imager, something like the dot tiff controller from screen, a shooter from heidelberg or the plate console from creo.

always consider that drive space is quite cheap nowadays and compression/decompression time is more important.

there is no fixed answer in that, you will have to try them all and adjust the compression algorithm to suit your network and rip/tiff imager situation best.

so far i haven't seen any 1bit tiff output solution that would have offered a lossy compression, so there is no difference there. just test them all.

We use CCITT group 4 compression for 1-bit tiffs (HQ RIP and Luescher and Basys). Works perfectly.

Since 1-Bit tiff is just black/white LZW works pretty good. Think that is also used by CtP.

The best compression is CCITTG4, It's undamaged compression.
