X-Rite Profile Editor - White Point Function

    Hello,

I am opening another post as we were going off-topic in the previous (http://www.printroot.com/forum/f13/x-rite-profile-editor-5-0-doesnt-register-selective-color-modification-14901/).

This time I am writing to you as I can't make my "white point" modifications, made in the "white point" panel in PE 5.0, effective.
When I save I select manual mode and I click on all the methods (perceptive, relative, absolute, saturation) but, even if I can see that the profile has been succesfully modified (I graph the profile using ColorThinkPro3) the modifications are not effective once I assign the profile to an image in Photoshop.

    Anybody can help?

    Thank you very much!

    Ale

Because Photoshop uses relative-like colorimetric intent and Bradford chromatic adaptation when mapping colors back to your monitor profile and could be too small to be noticeable. Open the image and assign the profiles and convert it to Lab using absolute colorimetric instead and compare the values.

    Thank you very much! :-)

Is there any way of doing it without performing this transformation?

I would like to apply the profile in Capture and see the results straight away...not having to load each single image in PS and then changing the mode to LAB.

    Thank you once again!

I'm not sure about Capture, but for Photoshop you use Proof Color and Simulate Paper Color which is same as above.

I think you should first explain in detail what is the goal to achieve some change in WhitePoint reproduction in your workflow. Optimized technical scenarios we can discuss afterthat.
Sometimes is the best way to prosper from HW-settings if possible and second time is good to configure it in colormanagement-preferences or so.

It isnt clear from your posts if you need to change only interpretation of white on some output or you need to make change white-point balance in data of your files by conversion?

Editing of ICC-profiles is of most complicated way of course and need more experiences - my opinion.
