EFI Colorproof XF with color-verifier-option is a good combination

    Depends on your devices.

Owner of Eizo or NEC monitors will love their bundle with X-Rite packages for monitor profiling and soft proofing. As for printer-paper profiling the choices are even more various, 'd say wide-gamut-monitor profiling package like basICColor Display + Monaco Profiler will get the most RGB+CMYK job done for photographers.

    Softproofing

basICColor Display and the New Discus device is a good combination specially when it comes to accuracy and very tiny tolerances between a few measurements compared to an i1pro.

I use Agfa ColorTune to calibrate the proofer and create dot gain curve. I like it.

    Efi 2.6

    Hello,

work for about 10 years with EFI Color Proof 2.6 and I still work well.
use the color burst and I did not like. versions 11 years ago
use another color Rip "dalmatian" versions of 11 years and is not very accurate with the colors, there are many shortcomings.

The important thing is that you achieve your test stick as much as possible to the printing press. In my printing machines of the 80 with older software can compete well against other printers.

Onyx works well for my large format printing but it's not great for proofing. GMG or EFI ColorProof are the ways to go there.

I'm pretty sure most of the large format inkjets are PC. Caldera runs on Linux. The only two I can think that of the run on Mac are ProofMaster and ColorBurst. Some RIPs like EFI will have a client program that you can run on a Mac. The RIP will generally also create a Windows shared printer that spools to the RIP queue, you should be able to print to that shared printer from a Mac too.
