If you'd have a hardware calibrated screen like EIZO, NEC or QUATO, you'll achieve better results with a software (Spectraview, ColorNavigator, iColor Display, etc.) specially created for such pro-grade devices.
In some cases, for software calibrated screens, it possible to get better results using ArgyllCMS for calibration and other software (bassICColor Display, i1Profiler, etc.) for icc profile creation only.
    Cheers,

    i1 pro

I just borrowed two i1 pro, one of them is UV CUT.

first of it has the license for monitor profiling and the other one has no license attached.

I'm considering to buy one of them from this guy. He offered to let it at 300 EUR.

I don't have any other software related to use them expect my RIP which is ColorGate PS7 and it has linearization module but not the profiler..

Is this a good idea ?

    I own both Spyder pro 4 and X-rite i1Profiler.

Xrite seems more professional but I would like to try the printer profiler from Spyder.

I'm going to try some of these suggestions. I have very slight discrepancies between my two CRT's.

    Spyder

Spyder seems ok but may need some improvement on the software. Otherwise, the hardware is good.

basICCdisplay is great. I can also recommend ColorEyes Display and laCie's blue eye pro.

X-rite's bundled software (i1Match) is terrible though.
