Looking to replace my old Monaco OptixXR which doesn't have Windows 7 drivers. The Spyder4Elite has 4.4/5 stars on Amazon. Any opinion on it?
However when talking about the Sypder4Elite, I would rather get an i1 Display Pro for the same money.
Thanks for the input, mcjam45. Tbh, the i1DisplayPro was my first choice but I was swayed by the Amazon reviews. The i1DisplayPro got 3.4/5 stars, the Spyder4Elite got 4.4/5 stars.
I1profiler + eye one pro
Is a very good combination
I was using colornavigator until I installed mountain lion, which doesn't work!
Waiting on a new version for September
Have found basICColor which was a saver.
You only know what works when you try and match two screens?
I have XRite i1 Pro calibration device, and use i1 Profiler
I use a kit of ProfileMaker+LaCie Blue Eye Pro Proof Edition. If the display has it's own LUT then LaCie is enough. Full auto mode will do the job for You perfectly (for example, with Nec MultiSync LCD2090UXi). But if You deal with display that has no LUT, then You need to make hardware calibration steps (contrast+white point+luminance) using ProfileMaker MeasureTool Monitor Calibration function. The fact is that although You can do this steps using LaCie BEP PE software, it is better to do them with ProfileMaker, because LaCie does them wrong.
I have Spyder4Pro calibration device, and use Datacolor software ver.4.5.4, working fine,
and if we want to calibrate in detail we can do it in the BasICColor.

I had the best results using i1pro with profile maker.
NEC monitors with internal hardware remapping of LUTS via SpectraView II does a perfect calibration. However, you want to also consider measurement devices tweaked by your monitors manufacturer for the colors that your monitor generates. That's ideal at least.
Spyder3pro with dispcalGUI+Argyll CMS
We have a Spyder3, didn't really work too well so we bought an i1 instead, still not perfect but that's probably down to the nut behind the wheel
I'm using I1PROFILER with I1PRO or I1PRO2
