I use a spyder 4 with the pro software (I think the hardware is the same for pro vs. elite, just the software changes), but the real problem is my photo lab. Their colours are seriously off, and now I need to decide if I should change my lab or manually calibrate the monitor to fit the lab...

Anyway, if you just use one place to do prints it is a good idea to do some prints and then manually check that the colors on the print looks like your screen, because that is what matters.

I just compared a bunch of them using i1display pro, and basiccolor gave me the best visual/reading result

    i1 also

I "use" an i1 and its software to calibrate my monitor to calibrate my monitor. I don't calibrate it often enough but at least its there when I get nit picky..
