    Question Sublimation printer calibrating

    Here is the situation:
I've got printers with different sublimation inks.
is an Epson R265 and the other R1500 (R1410).
I use them to print the decoration on sublimation transfer paper for gift items like mugs or mousepads.

Naturally I can't get the same image on the mug as in the print because I can't achieve 100% ink transfer.

Does any know of a good method to calibrate sublimation printers?

I thought about printing the patches and transferring them to the substrate, but imagine reading 1000 patches from the surface of the mugs ...

Try to linearize (less patches to read..), at least you can compensate for the density loss, and correct the loss of dot.

Another "similar" approach, is to mesure the max density you get on the "Mug" and print the calibration chart limited to the same density, if you are using the printers as CMYK devices it would be easy i think...
Figuring out the density loss @50% density on the "mug" and try to print the calibration chart on the same conditions would help to.

Calibrate with of the X-rite colorimeters and reduce gamut of rasterized image in Photoshop if you really need color accuracy.
