Which profiling software for a beginner?

Hallo,

I bought a used i1pro which comes with no software (except the i1share tool). I tried to download and install the i1 Match 3 utility from x-rite's website but I can't use the printer/scanner/projector/camera/monitor options because they are not available for my product I tried to run i1 diagnostics to update software's license but it asks me a "password" to unlock the wanted features. Can anyone help me with tis password? Eventually, tips about "simple" alternative softwares to approach colour management are welcome!!!

Thanks!!!

Antonio

Wait for the i1 Photo Pro which comes out in a week. It's being said that has a new engine for making icc profiles. (i1 Prism). I' m going for this one.

To profile RGB/CMYK printer I would recommend relatively simple applications from basICColor: basICColor dropRGB and basICColor CMYKick. I didn't find crack for them, but they are fully working during testing period.

For monitor try Lacie BlueEye. For Printer proofing try GM(Xrite) Profile Maker Pro, or Heidel Print Open.

i1Profiler

You can use the new i1profiler

I]Upgrade - i1Basic to new i1Basic Pro?

Question: I have an i1, which includes a license for the Monitor Module in the i1Match Software (i1Basic product, received in a bundle with a Printer or RIP). How can I upgrade to i1Basic Pro, so that I can use my existing i1 with the Monitor Module (only) in the new i1Profiler software?

Answer: This is an upgrade free of charge. The Monitor license in your existing i1 will also license the Monitor Module in the new i1Profiler software. You would just need to download and install the new software (i1Profiler
).

For the first steps use Monaco Profiler. You can calibrate your monitor and build RGB and CMYK profiles for your printer. The program will help you not make critical mistakes. Other programs require a certain level of training.

Not entirely sure I'd call it "simple"

Argyll is certainly powerful.

Try Monaco Profiler. It's mostly wizard based, guides you through the process and it's pretty straight forward.

ProfileMaker puts everything right out in front of you, it's great if you already know what you need to do or don't mind reading the help files.

LinoColor PrintOpen

We've been still using LinoColor PrintOpen with good success.

Profiling

LinoColor ViewOpen works well too. Especially with CRT monitors.

X-rite

my recommendation is x-rite profile maker, it has a lot of possibilities but versions earlier then 5.09 have problem with drivers for the I1 for the 64 bit systems...
