    Multicolor ICC

I am looking for a solution for Mac and PC, replacing PM5 Packaing.
I have been advised of Esko Kaleidoscope. Could this be a possible substitute?
    Is there another alternative?

    Thx.

    Yes

Esko generates only native esko profiles, the icc export limited to cmyk

But the Prinect Color Toolbox is cool, worth to try it!

The new i1Profiler is also able to generate up to 8 channel profiles (or CMYK+4 color ?). I never tried it however.

The new i1 ICC Profiler can profile up to 8 colors, but always based on CMYK + Any colors.

You can always use any color like fake CMYK

Esko have a new product for multicolor print: Equinox, part of Color Engine. http://esko.com/en/Products/overview/color-engine/modules
I've seen an oficial presentation. It looks very good. But i haven't tried it yet :(

    Sorry for my english

It's not so good because iProfiler's CMYK+Spots math will try to make GCR for CMY and K channels, so it will consider to see some dependenciy between these channels. And if you will paint these channels in different colors, you will stump iProfiler;).
If you create anycolor profiles in ProfileMaker Packaging, it considering all channels as completely independent. There is no GCR settings there for such type of profiles.

i would recommand Heidelberg COlortoolbox as they have the full workflow for packaging, Heidelberg Screening Editor is also a very helpful tool as you can create custom screenning angle for different pantone color unless you are trying to Hexachrome printing.

I too use profilemaker 5 for multicolor ICC profiles, was unable to replace it, tried other software to no avail. The recent i1Profiler was not so good as expected.

They messed up the CMYK settings with crap like Windows vista introduced hard to understand color management settings.

If you use EFI XF 4.5.x with the add-on "EFI RGB Profile connector" you can profile directly (multicolor too) without using external software.

Can i use this plugin with my Epson RGB-profile? Now i'm printing directly to the printer in Photoshop, converting multicolor in ColorLab. Sooooooo slowly, you know =)

P.S. i want to start using EFI, but with my old good profile :) Anyway, it's more accurate than default EFI calibration.

No you can, but if you have the color manager on you EFI XF, you will get a prefect color calibration. it really works well.
