    Ink Save

Hello Everybody, I'm looking for a solution to reduce my consumption of black toner in OCÉ VARIOPRINT DIGITAL PRINTERS. I already have a GMG for Digital Color Machines machines but it doesn't work for PB machines. Does anyone know a software that could help me to save toner?

    thanks

You want to reduce toner on PB machines?
What kind of gmg you are using? GMG prodution suite? or Colorserver?
You only need to do a linearization and dicrease 100% black to a smaller value.

    Best Regards

Hello Tiagovilar, yes, I want to reduce the toner on PB digital machines. I'm using GMG Production (as a test) and now I will start using ORIS PREMATCHER. I will try to do a linearization like you wrote, thanks for the tip.

If you have digital printers gmg colorserver will be the best option for you.
Prodution suite its for large format printers. You could use a PDF printer and manage color of several printers also it will be more cheaper than colorserver.

Oris is a good option too, but isn´t the best :D
Contact a gmg dealer on your country and ask to him aditional information

you want to reduce "black toner"? normally inksaving rise the "black toner" and reduce the other colors. you can do the job with a special profiling option in your icc profile or you create a devicelink for your purpose.

    hi mr. clean!

i was confused too by reading his request the first time. but i guess he is printing black + white only on a monochrome printing machine.

so he can only minimize toner consumption by reducing the total toner amount which depends on the paper stock and is determined by machine settings.

another way might be to edit the tone curve for images. lighter images means less toner.

That's right Spider, I'm printing in a monochrome printing machine (OCÉ). I'm trying Oris Pressmatcher and GMG.

    thanks

you will have no luck with Oris or GMG. as mr.clean has already said all ink saving solutions are reducing the coloured inks and therefore increase the black channel as substitution.

they are not working for monochrome printing!

Have you tried creating a profile to apply on the PDF file before printing?

Hello I've been had sucess using ORIS with Linearization. Camicov, how can I create this profile? The OCÉ machine doesn't use any software like (command workstation), to print the files we just use the printer driver

    thanks

that profile is created on Photoshop and the you can apply it on acrobat... Here are the instructions to limit the ink coverage

    http://www.newselfpublishing.com/TotalInkLimit.html

but the principle is the same, when you have your profile file copy it on the acrobat's profile folder (google it as I don't remember..) and then you can use it on your pdfs before printing.
