Hexachroma ICC profiles
Pantone Hexachrome is a six-color printing system using special C,M,Y,K plus Orange and Green inks. Hexachrome expands the gamut of printable colors significantly, and yields nicer skin tones. The only difficulty with this process is that it requires a six-color printing press (or two passes through a four-color press). Fortunately, there are many of them around today, and thus Hexachrome is now more possible.
Adobe’s new Photoshop CS4 converts images to Hexachrome, among other special formats, and it does a nice job. The process is easy: open an image, then go to Edit>Convert to Profile, choose Advanced, and then select a Hexachrome profile.
