Thread: best program for create ICC profile?

There really can be no one single "best" program for profiling because it absolutely 100% depends on what the user (you) want to achieve & accomplish. Do you want the highest acuracy for proofing or do you want the smoothest transitions for photography or something else? That's why you can't just ask for the best profiling program without stipulating exactly what outcomes you desire.

ProfileMaker and ColorToolbox is the good profiling software. But you must aware about the color engine (CMM) that you software is using.

If you are using the RIP or ColorEngine from Logo, then go with ProfileMaker. They will be some different if you start going details into this.

Hi everybody, I'm new to this forum and wish I can learn and maybe help other people aswell.
Meicat, I have recently looking for a used i1 Pro on e-Bay (from UK and Germany), and the prices I have seen are between 333€ for a simple one up to 640€ for a Xtreme one.
As you can see, they are not cheap at all, even second hand.
    Hope this helps.

    verifier

whatever you use, make sure you use a software that has a color verifier to verify that your prints are up to standard

I have to disagree - it makes absolutely no difference for the vast majority of us here & persons who make their own profiles in general. Most are not proofing, or forf that matter making contract proofs where the actual numbers do indeed matter.

The vast majority would be far better served by simply printing some real world images (not some test image downloaded from somewhere which is shot under studio conditions with a $40,000 camera & all the rest), preferably one's own images & make sure it appears how it should. You can waste all the time in the world trying to get the numbers right when the actual image looks perfect. Delta E mean nothing if not making contract proofs. What photographer is going to complain about being 3.5dE off some standard instead of 0.35dE when their image looks perfect? They aren't always neccesarily the best thing to use to judge profile quality.

    Just some food for thought...

    verification of a proofer

printing solid and tested pictures will show you if your profiling software is good enough. print in rgb directly to the printer (epson, driver). if the outcome is good (shadows, highlights, gray, skin...) , proof to a standard (gracol...) and you'll get hug from a very happy pressman
    p.s
separete your files with the same cmyk profile as the proof's.

And how high the import duties are in your country?

    TO peopleV3:
If you are making e.g. PDFs for press don't include any ICC. Only set e.g. ISO Coated v2 for previewing
