    @BIBIB:
you described version 4.0 with the bugs? That's right. Try version 4.1. Many of the bugs are blown away. Colormanagement works more accurate and output is more stable without crashes. A good update.

    Best regards

Has anyone used TGLC PerfX Color Management Repro? I've heard it's a good program but it's hard to find.

I think the best for color proofing is GMG color proof and color server.
39L and 29L is very good for our company.

A vote for Prinect Color Toolbox 3.5. Fuji Color Profiler have some unique features for black generation but I believe that PCT remain the best

Prinect use EFi engine (former bestcolor),
    Prinect cannot produce screened proof
for proof, black generation is not important.

Both GMG and EFI have great reputation and can produce excellent proof output. If you have problem with output, it's your fault. With both sw you can go in max dE below 2, and median below dE 1.
EFI is versatile. You can easy calibrate to any media, even begginer can do that.
GMG have good marketing approach that is good for packaging ( most demanded in output quality ). It's funny, proof is proof.
People from Esko speak about large color gamut they can to produce. (for example 90% of pantone color). GMG and EFI can do better, and color gammut depend mainly of media and ink (Epson 9900 is winner).
Now, bigest company in packaging use EFI. (you know who is biggest :) )
If you ask CGS, GMG EFI, they will say that have bigest user base all of the world.
But if you look in fogra database of proofing certified system more than 90% is EFI.
Bestcolor (EFI) introduced proofing on inkjet printers, so they have great expirience with proofing.
Prinect have better integration, ( it doesent mean that you cannot to integrate GMG or EFI)
EFI have better integration if you have print mis. Efi is better in multiuser, multiprinter enviroment.
Thank's to this forum you can tryit all.

You dont need to make the profiles on your own.
It's untrue, if you have GMG you must to use GMG media.
if you like to have high end proof in EFI or Prinect, you cannot to use generic profile.
    dE is to high
For production, EFI is clear winner (thank to great expirience of Vutek engineer)
Heidelberg maybe have best ICC colorprofiling tool. For paper profiling they use EFI (bestcolor) system, EFI is maybe, ( i could' not say that i'am right in that case) slightly weak in ICC profile creation, but you can use it EFI colorprofiler suite.
    ps
change topic to which proofing system is best

My answer concern only icc profile creation - true. "for proof, black generation is not important"- you are a happy person: smooth B2A, no banding, no blocked shadows, very neutral appearance etc. If you have all this your assumption is true...

Black generation is maintained by rip (paper profile), not color profile.
so playing with black generation in proof, produce everything you mention.
how you can play with black generation with EPSON 3K inks?

GMG, EFI and Oris are RIPs that can do color management. MonacoProfiler and Profilemaker are applications created for the purpose of generating custom ICC profiles. I love Monaco, but you should try Argyll http://www.argyllcms.com/). If you know command-line instruction it's FREE, and very comprehensive...f

I think, Oris Press Matcher and Oris Color Tune in combination is good combination for press and digital or proof.
