Article on D65 for Monitor Calibration

Aaron125's post on solux bulbs reminded me that I wanted to link to this new article from color-image.com on reasons for profiling monitors to D65 white point--

    http://www.color-image.com/2012/02/monitor-calibration-d65-white-point-soft-proofing/

Goes into some serious detail as to the history of the two major white point standards for press (d65 and d50) as well as giving reasons for why our eyes see a calibration of D50 on a backlit surface (such as a monitor) as looking overly warm, while our eyes are capable of adjusting to see "white" on paper under D50 reflected lighting--

    recommended reading.

but in everydays work you should use something between 5000 - 6000 K, e.g. 5800 K as this is a good compromise. For further information look inside the Fogra Softproof Handbook
