I tried to install on Win7, no success (even with program compatibility on XP).
Is there a reason why so many programs will not run on Windows 7? Is it due to the 64 bit operating system as opposed to the 32 bit system?

    color logic

    You can try this:
    http://www.color-logic.com/

This system has a pretty low entry price and is intended for process printing.

I'm not sure if MetalFX are still around, but if they are then I would also consider that as an option. You can get great effects using only one additional ink.

Of course, if you need a simple effect and have some time to test. You can just add an ink (spot color) in your design program. I had a job a few weeks ago which was an invitation to some high profile event with a photograph of the place where the event was to be held.
I made the photograph high contrast grayscale (in photoshop) and then placed it in indesign and gave it a spot color - this spot color was printed in silver in the invitation (along with some of the text) - came out very nice!

    you mean flexable packaging printing

the very best software you can use is artpro from esko but also you cant visualize the
metalized layer but its good program to manage flexable packaging

The files form ArtPro can be visualised over ESKO visualizer. that is the best program ofr simulating different finish effects.

There are two types of printed silver ink, such as roland printer; the other is printed in metallic materials, such as EPSON WT7910 Printer.

No , I have no idea about the metalizing printing software, but this sounds interested to work on it. This is something appealing for the art lovers. I hope to hear more about it.

I had a sales rep come round to me recently with a celloglaze that you put over the top of a metallic ink (pantone 877 etc) and it gives it an even more metallic look. can't recall the name of it, but it looked awesome, the sample that was brought in was a lord of the rings collectors box. pretty snazzy.

    Silver foil look

The best look is to print white and CMYK on silver metalized polyester material. We have played with printing Silver ink on white board stock (even MetalFX) but the metal look just does not look as good as Met-Poly.

As for designing I recommend creating layers in your design program. White will be the top layer with all elements set to overprint. Art will be the next layer containing all the type and photos. Don't forget to turn Overprint preview on :).

    Good Luck

    Hi Caden,
Could you please give us a sample design in Illustrator?
    Thanks.

It's necessary to use VM, because life of license is only 1 month

Great stuff. also look at the alternative of complete metalised substrate and print a fast drying white then cmyk over the white. not print areas will show through metalic
