I'm guessing that with as much success as they've had in their other divisions (anonymized link), they'll be smart enough not to drastically mess with Esko's success.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

I realize the market is limited but esko charges too much for its packaging software.

Danaher? Who are they?
I dont think that they do any good.
They did what they did for money.
Maybe after a while they will sell esko to adobe.

Now, we don't know the future but we can take a look what happens with small companies bought by the big companies. We have for example Avid (Avid acquired Pinnacle Systems) or Ulead Systems sold to Corel...

Technology is only based on the discovery by the capital, the capital will be used in exchange for more money.

Could be an interesting acquisition. Danaher is a very diverse company but I'm having a hard time understanding their strategy with Esko. My big problem with Esko is that they have so many offerings that do specific tasks and they all have horrible interfaces and are geared towards large companies. They are priced WAY too high for a small shop to compete. I really think they could make better software if they combined and simplified a lot of what they offer and also produce more inexpensive versions. We'll see if Danaher realizes this.

Corel bought too many companies or part of companies... for example:
Jasc (paint shop pro)
Quatropro from borland
as you mentioned Ulead System
Wordperfect from Nowell
iGraphics
Bryce
Winzip
Micrografx
InterVideo
Painter from metacreations... etc.

But Corel did not successful for all acquired softwares. I hope Esko will more develope.
