Tutorials on Font making, Photoshoping, Illustrating

I would like to have a section on tutorials so people can teach each other and share what they know best! This is an absolute great forum but is just a bit shame as there are not many FAQ on how to make and how to do this and that...etc, etc...Would love to see people can help each other on improving design better! ^___^ Just saying

I know when I just google it, it sometimes doesn't get me there. Seems like you have to know all of the lingo, especially photoshop. I know I only have elements...so I can't say much

    What's it called?

I just got a copy of FontLab from a buddy and bought a book called "Learn FontLab Fast" which shows you step by step how to work with the program to make fonts. So far, it looks good!

There are tutorials all over the place. Google the names of the tutorial compaines. Lynda, Digital Tutors etc. The tuts are scene released within days of their official release, if you aren't in a position to buy them yet because you are a student.

It would be great to have such section, as peple posting here are designers (maybe even professionals, too) and they could share their best tutorials with others. Also would be appreciated, that every could share the best tutorials found in the Internet! It takes so much time to find good tutos.

In addition to that, I felt kinda sorry that I couldn't answer to some, who was looking for great PS tutorials because my posts count did not meet the rules on posting to Printing Resource Center. I just felt sorry that I couldn't help even if I wanted (but maybe it's not even possible to make things like that you cannot make download action but still can write on topic...)

Lynda's Foundations of Typography course is really good, later on digital tutors has some courses for more creative applications, like Creation and Integration of a Display Font in Illustrator for example

I know there are a lot of tutorials available everywhere else,
I prefer to follow the recommendations made by users towards the best tutorials.

Perhaps a "best of" or "recommended" section ?

I think many people use Fontlab or Font Forge (for Win & Mac, maybe Linux too)
If you use mac, you can try Glyphs. I think glyphs is much better editor, however it's not free.

In a near future there should be app "Prototype" which is kind of a new approach of font designing. So far the demonstrations look pretty cool, I'm looking forward when it will be public...

Good start for designing might be:

    http://www.creativebloq.com/typography/design-your-own-typeface-8133919

Set what's your aim first. Is it geometrical font? Serif? hand drawn?
Don't forget to study other typefaces... it's important..

btw here is quite interesting video about typography of US road signs.
